Our old shower bracket cracked and broke one day, and I realized it was made of plastic. Then upon reading all the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, I also realized it was hard to find a non-plastic bracket for a decent price. It seemed those in the $9-$25 range were all part plastic in the holder portion; you can find metal ones at $48 and up, but they too can have plastic components or problems, it seemed.Then I stumbled upon this Moen bracket on another site. Moen has a good reputation in terms of product quality, and I also liked its streamlined design. Amazon had a better price, but no review was available. It was unclear what it was made of, but the price being in between the plastic ones and metal ones, I took a chance - hoping it would be (mostly) metal.And... it turned out to be a winner! The unit comes in its own little box -- when you lift that out of the Amazon box, you immediately feel its weight. This thing is solid. Yes, I'm talking metal. Heavy, solid construction, and aesthetically pleasing to boot. I immediately installed it with a little Teflon tape -- no fuss, no leak anywhere.I can't yet comment on the longevity, since I just got it. Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend this fine bracket.
